CDG understands that children learn and continue to learn throughout their childhood and that some children learn differently – require more support, motivation or patience.
We understand that children’s window to learning is never shut and that the appropriate measures need to be set in place so that the perfect environment to learn and thrive is established.
At CDG we believe it is our job as educators to help bring out the best in our students by using their interests as motivation whenever possible. By “knowing” the students we educate, we are better able to develop a relationship built on cooperation and not resentment. As a result, we are able to teach effectively and to establish a rapport that will be the foundation on which our students base their learning.
We want our students to come to our education centre happy and leave happy learning and discovering new things.
They have undergone specialized training in behaviourism and implement the principles of behavior in their everyday teaching. The team includes speech therapists, instructors, psychologists, music, behaviour and occupational therapists, all together focused on your child’s growth and education.
We teach using the Ontario curriculum to ensure each student is ready for the next steps in their learning journey. Subjects will include Science, Math, Reading and literacy, art, music, gym and social studies.
Student work is individualized to meet each student’s unique needs. While some need more time and opportunity to develop language or math skills, others may require more time developing physical or social skills. The pace of learning is matched to the normal spurts that occur in each student’s cognitive, emotional and physical development. At the same time the teachers monitor and guide each individual student to ensure the success of every student.
Using a proven multidisciplinary approach, CDG focuses on your child’s total growth: social, language, academic and behavioural. Our goal is to enhance your child’s natural strengths, while guiding them to overcome challenges that may arise from Autism Spectrum Disorders and Asperger’s, speech / communication delay or learning disabilities, language delays, as well as other challenges.
CDG offers the “Academy” program, an alternative to the public school. The Academy is a school program for children with special needs.
