Once every 6-8 weeks with the exception of July and August CDG will host free of charge parent support groups designed to provide families of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders a safe and relaxing environment in which they may exchange support, knowledge and conversation. This support group is lead by Ginny P (see bio ).
Ginny P is a mother of 5. She has a son, who is 18, with ASD. She has long been an advocate on behalf of families and people with ASD, serving on various School Board, Ministerial and Municipal committees.
She is currently President of the Autism Ontario – Toronto Chapter leadership committee. In the past, she served on the Board of Directors for the Autism Society of Ontario for several years; served on the Board of Directors for the national organization ‘Autism Society of Canada’ for 3 years; chaired the Autism Society of Ontario ‘Presidents Council’ and served on various Autism Ontario Chapter executive councils.
She currently serves as the ‘Autism Ontario’ member of the Toronto District School Board ‘Special Education Advisory Committees’ (SEAC). In this capacity she sits on other relevant board committees. She has served on various SEAC committees for over 10 years.
Aside from assisting in developing new programs (social, vocational, skill building) Ginny initiated and facilitated the Autism Ontario Parent Support Groups for both Toronto District school boards. She has extensive experience in supporting parents who have children in Special Education.
